What is Spiritual Direction?
In all these moments, a trained Spiritual Director can be a companion and guide of the journey. Despite the traditional name of the practice, Spiritual Direction is not really about being "directed". Rather, it is very much about being invited to move closer to God. Spiritual Direction invites you into this ever-deeper experience of noticing the interior spiritual movements of your life.
Who is Available to Accompany You on Your Journey? Luisa Del Giudice, Ph.D. is a professional ethnologist/folklorist and

and a long-time parishioner of St. Alban's Church. She serves on
the Diaconal Committee, as well as the Peace and Justice Commission of
the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. She is committed to interfaith and

Spiritual Direction recognizes that life is a sacred journey in which
we may experience times of great spiritual growth, challenges, and
discoveries. We can also experience deep hunger for the Holy, time of
life transition, and even disappointment.
Spiritual Direction dates back more than fourteen centuries
to the desert fathers and mothers who lived a simple, contemplative life
and who were joined by others who enjoyed solitude, prayer, and peace.
Prospective directees are typically introduced to Spiritual Directors
from outside their parish but in their local area. All Spiritual
Directors are trained over a multi-year period that includes an
internship.
