The Reverend Hartshorn Murphy comes to St. Alban's with a wealth of experience in the Church. He received his B.A. from the University of Maryland, and his M. Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary. After a curacy in Baltimore, he became a Vicar in Milwaukee, before moving to Los Angeles. In our diocese he has served as the Rector of St. Philip's in Los Angles, Archdeacon for Congregational Development for Bishop Fred Borsch, and Rector of St. Augustine's, Santa Monica. While he worked for Bishop Borsch, he supervised forty missions and two parishes as evangelism officer and interim deployment officer, and created a program for clergy in transition. In his retirement, he has served as a sabbatical supply priest and interim rector.
Hartshorn is married to Marla Harris Murphy, and they have one adult son, Taran, who is living in Baltimore.
